WHAT IS TERRAZZO?
Terrazzo is a material which arises from mixing fragmented natural stones with cement. Depending on the desired appearance and functional competence, there are different kinds of natural stones or mixes of stones that can be used, which are binded by white or grey cement. Natural dyes are often used in production to obtain the desired colour.
The advantages of terrazzo products:
- High resistance for attrition
- High resistance for pressure
- Frost resistance
- Soil resistance
- High option of colour forming
- No reaction with foodstuff
- Incombustibility
Features above predestine terrazzo products for use:
- In places of high intensity of human traffic (utility buildings, routes, subways, railway stations, office buildings, market halls, sport buildings, sacred places, etc.),
- In places where it is planned to place racks and other constructions which can bring high single pressure on the area (supermarkets, storehouses, workshops, etc),
- In rooms where fork-lift trucks operate,
- In places which should be kept in a clean condition (foodstuff workshops),
- In places of an increased fire risk (storehouses, gas-stations, gas bottling plants etc.)
Stairs elements, produced from terrazzo are reinforced, which gives higher durability. The reinforcement can be appropriately modified (according to construction plan), for using them as self-supporting elements.
Certain obstruction about using terrazzo is its heavy weight, which matters during transport to a building site and laying, but it does not have any influence on exploitation.. Terrazzo is produced of natural stones, which may cause small shade differences in separate consignments of final products. On account of this it is strictly recommended to order a sufficient of the product which will be enough for all planned area. This reduces the risk of receiving consignments of non-equal shade.
Terrazzo products range includes:
- floor- lining
- tiles of size 300 x 300 mm
- tiles of size 400 x 400 mm
- stairs-lining
- wall socles
- windowsill
